What is the Action Plan? We thought you’d never ask! It’s our north star, our strategic plan designed to help save the monarchs from further decline and was developed by the Oklahoma Monarch and Pollinator Collaborative (one of our shining star programs) in collaboration with more than 60 amazing partners over the past two years. The Action Plan will create more resources for the public, more pollinator conservation partnerships and result in more high-quality monarch habitat throughout the state. Yeehaw!

OKC Native Plant Nursery Crawl
A few ONPN native plant growers are hosting a Native Nursery Crawl and they want you to join them. Come by and check out some native plant nurseries, get your plants for fall planting, talk to all your plant friends, enjoy some great food and drink, and listen to some fabulous music. What more could you ask for? There will be four locations:
STOP 1: Lia’s Garden at CommonWealth, 1016 NW 32ND St OKC, featuring Indian Tacos by Indian Youth Empowerment Project.
STOP 2: Blue House Urban Farm, 721 NW 28th St OKC.

This all-day event will bring together native plant growers, landscapers, municipal horticulturists and anyone that is interested in increasing their native plant knowledge. We hope to connect like minded folks for a series of engaging and informative lectures and discussions.
We’ve assembled an outstanding lineup of experienced professionals who will share practical insights and proven strategies across a range of topics essential to native plant production, design, maintenance and ecological horticulture.

Neil Diboll
Consulting Ecologist at Prairie Nursery (Westfield, WI)
A pioneer in the native plant industry and recognized internationally as an expert in native plant ecology, Neil Diboll has dedicated his life to the propagation of native plants, promoting their benefits and furthering their use in gardens, landscapes and restoration projects. His work emphasizes aesthetics, sustainability, and ecological compatibility with the land. The essence of Neil’s philosophy is that we, as stewards of the planet, must work to preserve and increase the diversity of native plants and animals, with which we share our world. The protection of our natural heritage and our soil and water resources is essential to maintaining a high quality of life for today, and for future generations to come. In 2013 Neil was the recipient of the Great American Gardeners Award from the American Horticultural Society. The Gardeners Guide to Prairie Plants The Gardeners Guide to Prairie Plants is valuable reference book by Neil, co-authored with Hilary Cox.

Wildlife Habitat Garden Tour & Native Plant Sale
The Tulsa Audubon Society is hosting the 33rd annual tour of Tulsa area gardens and yards that feature native and wildlife-friendly plants, along with a plant sale from nurseries with native and wildlife friendly plants.
This self-guided tour incudes five homes around the Midtown/South Tulsa areas.

Okies for Monarchs Plant & Pollinator Festival
Okies for Monarchs is bringing the Pollinator Party to Elk City!
Okies for Monarchs is bringing together native plant growers, conservation organizations, educators, and community members to celebrate pollinators while creating lasting habitat.
Event details:
Date: Saturday, May 2 (12:00-4:00pm)
Location: Arrowhead Community Center, Elk City

Outdoor event with indoor space available in case of rain

What’s planned:
Native plant and pollinator-focused vendors
Educational booths and a few speakers (to be determined)

Installation of an additional 100 square feet of pollinator habitat at the site. (This is an expansion of the habitat planted this fall in partnership with KOB)
100 milkweed plants being given away to the community

Jenks Herb-n-Plant Festival
The annual Jenks Herb-n-Plant Festival is hosted along Main Street in downtown Jenks with booths featuring native plants, herbs, garden decor, and much more.

Please join us for an early evening of plant identification fun, food, and community.
Micah Friedman will be leading a plant ID demonstration, then we'll break into teams to put our plant identification skills into practice. Terrain will be mostly flat and ample parking is available. Restrooms onsite. We will conclude with a potluck meal. Please bring a dish to share, a set of utensils, plate and napkin. Drinks will be provided.
Other helpful items to pack: Refillable water bottle, bug spray, comfy, closed toe shoes.

To preserve Martin Park as a specialty nature area and make the park experience more enjoyable for all of our visitors, we ask everyone to abide by the following rules and ordinances:
No fires (Municipal Code 38-90)
Smoking or use of any tobacco products are prohibited (Municipal Code No 30-471)
No fishing or hunting
No swimming or wading (Municipal Code No 38-145)
Bicycles are not allowed in the park
Releasing of animals is prohibited (Municipal Code No 38-93)
Feeding of wildlife is NOT allowed
Stay on the designated trails
Pets of any kind are STRICTLY PROHIBITED (Municipal Code No 38-93). ADA service animals are welcome. ESA not recognized.
Cameras are welcome and encouraged, but the use of drones or unmanned aircraft is strictly forbidden (Municipal Code No 38-99).
Weapons of any kind are prohibited, except those firearms as permitted by state law. (Municipal Code Article X)

Hey Southeastern Oklahoma! Okies for Monarchs is coming to you on Saturday, October 11 to ask for your help to save the monarchs and our other pollinator friends! We will be in Calera at the Choctaw Cultural Center from 11:30 am to 3:30 pm with native wildflowers and milkweed for sale. Additionally, we will have experts on hand to answer your questions and provide presentations that are full of helpful knowledge and useful tips for your monarch-saving adventures! And not only that, we’ll also have FREE MILKWEED* at the Okies for Monarchs booth.

Bring your gardening questions, as we'll have 8 Oklahoma local vendors ready to help you find the right plants for your garden (that's right, even dry shade!). We look forward to seeing you there!
Address and supplemental directions to the Oxley visitor center: 6700 Mohawk Blvd. Tulsa, Ok 74115. Once you have entered Mohawk Park, follow the road and make your first left after the zoo. Follow this road for one mile to the entrance to the nature center.
